ABRASU MAGAZINE

Abrasu Magazine was founded in pursuit of a mission—a mission to bring indigenous voices to the front stage by utilizing modern media. Based in Dededo, Guam, Abrasu Magazine aims to have the cultures of Southeast Asia and Oceania recognized, appreciated, and respected. Abrasu is a CHamoru word that translates to "hug" or "together." Because we want people to embrace the value of culture as a unifying force, we believe the title "Abrasu Magazine "best describes our passions and ambitions.

Born in the Philippines, "A" was raised and schooled in Guam, where she realized the potential and drea of its residents. While browsing the internet for magazines and journals, she was surprised to find a lack of femme and Oceanian voices. She hopes that Abrasu Magazine can provide the grounds for aspiring artists and writers and ambitious trouble makers and genre breakers to communicate their personal and cultural encounters, hardships, and joys.
